
Takaaki Kuga
Takaaki Kuga obtained a degree in international monetary economics from Sophia University in Tokyo. In 1993 he began his career at Mitsui & Co.,Ltd., where he was in charge of the commercial and credit management of multiple foreign clients in the car export business. He gained experience in the auto parts logistics business through the management of Mitsui's subsidiaries in North America. In 1999 he was assigned as interim director of Mitsui at SOFASA, a J/V company with Toyota, Renault and Bavaria, located in Bogotá, Colombia. In 2002, he joined the Colombian company Bavaria S.A. as director of Marketing Investments, where he was responsible for the budget of that area. He completed the executive MBA course at Javeriana University in Bogotá. In 2004 he joined Toyota Motor Corporation, where he was assigned to work at Toyota Motor Sales United States. He later moved to Mexican territory as executive director of coordination at Toyota Motor Sales de México. After completing his assignment for 5 years, he returned to the Product Planning Division at Toyota Motor Corporation, from where he led project planning between Toyota and Mazda in Salamanca, this as Project Manager. In 2014, he was assigned to Toyota Motor Sales de México as coordination director, serving as TMC's Japanese representative in the country. In July 2016, he moved his operation to Toyota Motor Manufacturing de Guanajuato (TMMGT) as Manager of the TMMGT Querétaro Office to support the launch of the plant until the end of 2019. He currently serves as Vice President of Toyota Motor de México, in charge of Business Strategy. In February 2023, he was appointed president of the Japan Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, a position he currently holds.
