Alex Canela
Alex Canela is a seasoned IT executive with over 34 years of experience in automation and digitalization. Since 2018, he has served as the Vice President and Country Manager for Mexico and Central America at Siemens Software. Under his leadership, Siemens has become a recognized leader in Industrial Digitalization across the region. Beyond Siemens, Alex is a prominent figure in Mexico's digital transformation efforts. He holds the title of President of Innovation and Technological Development. Cluster Metropolitano and Vice President for Concamin's Industry 4.0 commission, actively driving digital adoption within Mexican industrial companies. In recognition of his achievements, Alex was named a top transformative CEO in 2023 and recently this year 2024 by Horse Consultancy. His extensive experience extends to the CIO role, having been recognized three times as one of Mexico's top CIOs by CIO Infoworld. Prior to Siemens, Alex boasts over 20 years at leading companies like General Motors and held the position of Head of User Engagement for the Americas at Siemens AG. Alex possesses a strong academic background, holding a degree in Computer Systems Engineering from TecnolĂłgico de Monterrey, two master's degrees (one in Management Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University and another in Marketing from TecnolĂłgico de Monterrey), and having completed a Leadership program at the University of Maryland. Thisexpertise has allowed him to contribute as an Academic Leader at TecnolĂłgico de Monterrey and share his knowledge by lecturing at various universities throughout Mexico.
